La Reserva de Sotogrande 11310 Sotogrande San Roque Cadiz www.sotogrande.com | This beautiful 18-hole golf course was designed by Cabell B. Robinson and opened in 2004. Already La Reserva is showing maturity that has exceeded all expectations. The course is situated in two valleys which provide spectacular views over the Med. When work commenced clearing the land, existing fauna and flora of ecological or scenic interest was preserved by transplanting them to a provisional nursery with the intention of taking them back to their original place. Probably the first course in the region to even consider such an act of preservation. As for the course, it is impressive to say the least and displays many qualities that are difficult to match. The landscaping and features are large scale but very easy on the eye and quietly blend with the surrounding scenery. The course is long, measuring just over 6,700m from the back tees. Such an overall length was essential in order for La Reserva to be considered for hosting major international tournaments in the future. For the ordinary golfer the inclusion of two forward tees, both men and ladies, enable all to enjoy a round. A computerised irrigation system ensures the course is always presented in perfect condition. The fairways are magnificently cut and more than sufficiently wide. Water hazards are a major feature of the course, incorporating six holes, but only one with a frontal hazard. Cabell B Robinson was more interested in protecting the pins and therefore conservative approaches may take the hazards out of play. The greens really are the heart and soul of the course, and relatively large to provide bigger targets for the average handicapper. However, hitting the green in regulation is one thing putting is another altogether. On arrival the clubhouse will certainly impress. It is well laid out and has all the required changing facilities, bar and restaurant facilities for you to sit and relax after your round. There is a superb practice area situated nearby and buggies are always available if required.
La Reserva are very strict about booking tee times and receiving handicap certificates. They specify bookings must be made via clubbgolf.com with names and handicaps of players prior to your arrival. You should ensure you let clubbgolf.com book on your behalf to avoid disappointment. Don’t leave home without your handicap certificate!! |
