As soon as Spanish architect Pepe Gancedo was commissioned to create this course the local golfing community waited with baited breath. Could he possibly surpass his other design triumphs at both Torrequebrada and Golf del Sur? Nobody was disappointed!!
This course and its clubhouse are totally unique on the Costa del Sol. The view from the clubhouse is outstanding!! Just a few villas dotted about in an abundance of pine trees which appear to run all the way to the Med. Practically every hole overlooks the sea, and the nature of the terrain, indigenous vegetation and pine forests, ensure there are no two holes alike. Raised tees, winding fairways, elevated greens in a woodland setting make this course breathtaking. A photographers dream to say the least! With an unusual layout of six par3, six par4 and six5 it is both a beautiful and very challenging course to play. Imagine yourself poised on the tee, your attention distracted only by the panorama and the scent of the Mediterranean brush and pine. Millionaire golf you might say!
Due to its popularity, the course has suffered a little since re-opening in 2006. Given time the influx of golfers should calm somewhat and the course will undoubtedly return to it’s best. The clubhouse is big with all the necessary facilities at your disposal and friendly staff to help as and when required. A fantastic two-tier driving range lines the car park to get ‘the old swing’ going before you play.
All-in-all this course has been well thought out in terms of convenience of facilities and offers a more than ample test of golf. One word of warning though!! Be straight from the tee or there is big trouble ahead on some of these holes. And as for all you long drivers……watch out!!
El Chaparral are very strict about booking tee times. They specify bookings must be made via clubbgolf.com with names and handicaps of players prior to your arrival. You should ensure you let clubbgolf.com book on your behalf to avoid disappointment. Don’t leave home without your handicap certificate!!
