What is it with us when we play La Cañada, eh? Twice we have been there in the last 12months, and only twice in the last 12months we have got wet! Someone definately doesn´t want us to enjoy this course!
Anyway, there were only a handful of players that braved the weather long enough to complete the round...... and who can blame the others for stopping? We started off the round with light showers. But, pretty soon we had experienced straight down rain, sideways ´wind assisted´ rain, thin wispy rain, big old fat rain and I´m sure at some stages rain was actually coming straight up from the ground at us!!
I´m sure the players with complete rounds only did so as they were scoring well and thought they maybe had a chance of winning. Disco posted 29pts only letting the points slip away when the rain really did get a little too much to keep a grip on a club. Noony was hugely unlucky with 34pts and may well have scored better if he had been with the leading group and finished before the rain got silly!! And our winner, in the lead group which did finish before the torrential rain, a certain David Sharpe with 35pts. Well done David, and only a Scotsman could play winning golf in that sort of weather!!
I´d just like to thank you all for turning out on such a miserable day to play golf. Brave, dedicated or just totally out of your minds.... it makes you proud to be British!! Oops...or Danish, Mick!! Hehe!!
There will be no handicap adjustments due to the low number of players with complete rounds. Well saying that, obviously our winner will lose 2 shots! Sorry David!!
