A new challenge for the golfers this month, by way of a new course.
La Canada Golf Club......and could we avoid the rain this time out?
This month I decided to play myself. I decided it had been far too long since I had displayed my skills at one of our competitions and dusted off the trusty old clubs. Unfortunately, things didn't quite go according to plan and there wasn't much for me to shout about when I got back to the clubhouse. Should have kept a eye on you lot instead!! Nearly avoided the rain aswell. We had a 10min shower which, after last time out, had us all sensibly taking cover in buggies under trees. All-in-all the level of golf seemed quite good and the sun shone for most of the round.
Mass confusion rained supreme in respect of the scoring for the competition. 50% of us were playing a medal and the other 50% were playing stableford. Luckily for me after calculating both scoring formats, there was only going to be one winner. Nigel 'Lavlee' Weston scored 37pts stableford and would have scored a -1 net score in the medal from a handicap of 7. He parred the front 9, with 2 birdies and 2 bogies along the way, then was a little disrupted by the rain and dropped a horrendous 6 shots on the back nine. Oh, to only drop 6 shots in a round of golf!! Well played Nigel 'old son', we'll see you in Portugal.
