Competition report - May - Calanova Golf

Competitions

May, a visit to Calanova Golf and a glorious day in the spring sun and a singles competition.

Individual Stableford was the order of the day and we had a huge amount of good scores as this course was thoroughly enjoyed by all that played it.  Although Richie Bell suffered at the 18th, as he found his perfect drive down the middle had been swallowed by the pond.  Lesson learnt we hope Richie?  Not always a driver from the tee, eh?  Another score which was to be noted, and will lead to handicaps being cut, was that man again...... yep, you guessed it......Mr Balfour.  This time, the 38pts he scored were not good enough to win, although he will lose strokes at the next competition! hehe!!

Another player to lose a stroke, or possibly two, will be Mark 'Chops' Simmonds.  Believe it, or believe it not, 'El Chopito' had the miraculous event of a birdie in his round.  No.... he didn't meet one!!  I mean a real bonifide 2 on a par 3.  Now you've proved you can do it Chops, lets have a few par's on the card aswell. hehe!!

The best score of the day was posted by a guy who is actually leaving us for another work placement...... in not so sunny climes.  'Uncle' Ray Slotte, as he will be affectionately known from now on, posted a grand total of 39pts to take first prize.  I have to give credit to Ray, as he cut his own handicap from 26 to 23 upon arriving at the competition.  Big slap on the wrists for me, and a huge amount of credit to Ray for proving integrity does live on in amateur golf.

We sincerely hope Ray will be able to travel to Valderrama for the event, and well done once again.

Does anyone have a picture of 'Uncle' Ray Slotte?  Please let us have it!!

Birdies for Chops and Disco!!

Nearest the pin for Cliff!!

Noonie and Disco enjot the views!!!
