  El Paraiso - Competition Results
Posted by DavidGoodwin
Competitions

This month we all arrived at a different venue for yet another competition.  The setting this time was the ever beautiful...
...El Paraiso Golf Club.

Well, the 26th August '06 seen us all arrive at El Paraiso for a slightly earlier start than usual.

9:04am was the earliest tee-time and I am certain there were some clubs being swung by a few golfers who were, er, a.... 'little worse for wear', should we say!  The conditions were good, perfect in fact, with no wind to speak of and a cover of cloud which helped us all with the sun.  The scoring, however, was a completely different kettle of fish.

It is safe to say that this course is definately more suited to the mid handicapper of 10-20.  I expected a few good scores on such a calm day, but I guess most of you got a little excited with such open fairways.  Started swinging a little too quick maybe?  There was a lot of slicing going on from what I seen.  A few too many people in the undergrowth aswell.  Don't want to mention any names......Pete 'in the rushes' MacNab!!  Pete's playing partners were on the green putting, and were was Pete?  In the rushes looking for his ball!!  Now that's what I call persistance, or is it because he's a Scotsman? Haha.

I thought we were going to have another 'countback' on our hands at one point with two players tied on 35pts.  'Not great scoring' I thought, but none the less still very respectable scores.  Then in came Ola 'HOLA' Axelsson with a birdie, and 4pts, to take the spoils and book his place on the Valderrama trip.  Of course we had moaning from the guys that didn't play so well, and whinging from a couple that played worse than that!!  But at the end of the day, a good front nine, or a good back 9 dont make a good round.  You gotta do it for the full 18 Guys!!

Anyway, congratulations 'HOLA', and I think it's safe to say with 39pts total you will lose a couple strokes next time out!!  Just ask 'Disco'!!

Competition winner Ola 'HOLA' Axelsson collects his prize
from event organiser Dave Goodwin.

And an extra-special mention for Mark 'yamyam' Bates, who battled his
way round the course and ammassed the grand total of.........0pts!!
Yes, you read correctly, nothing, nada, nowt, zero, zilch, zippo and in my
opinion thoroughly deserves his prize!!  Golf balls, I bet he lost loads of 'em!!
