The new season is now upon us and there is only one thing to say...........
..........Los Arqueros - Individual Stableford.

Well, I have to say I didn’t expect everyone to get off to flying start, but Los Arqueros really did take its toll on you this time.  After watching your efforts on the 2nd, for our hole-in-one prize, it quickly became apparent that we were in for a long day.  Shot of the day on the 2nd went to Colin Welland, whose majestic effort sliced viciously across the 5th green, hit a path, bounced over the 6th tee, hit another path and eventually came to rest the lake.  The lake, which incidentally happens to be further away from the tee than the green Colin was aiming for.  Well done Colin, I haven’t laughed so much since the last time I seen you tee-off.

It has to be said Gents, the scoring wasn’t the best we have seen at our competitions.  In fact, I would even go so far as to say it was possibly the worst we have seen for some considerable time.  Even the lower handicappers struggled to get to grips with the course with most posting scores between 8 and 10pts for the front nine.  I guess I’ll have to get my clubs out next time and remind you all how it should be done..........again!!

A few notable scores that were close, but just not close enough, were Dave Lee 29pts, David Sharpe 29pts and John Phillips not too far behind with what turned out to be a respectable 26pts.  Our winner and the first person to claim this year’s new first prize was Andrew ‘Mitch’ Mitchell with a whopping 30pts.  I don’t know who was more amazed!  Mitch at having won with 30pts, or me handing out first prize to 30pts.  Anyway, on a day when hardly anyone performed to the levels they can our congratulations go to Mitch........our latest single figure handicapper!  Hehe!!
