Cabopino Golf was our selected course for the day....
....and we only just avoided the rain?
Well gentlemen, the weather really did threaten to spoil our day out with some horrible big black clouds lingering ominously over us for most of the morning. However, a couple of small showers later the sun came out and our group of somewhat damp golfers emerged from beneath the trees and rapidly dryed out!! The course layout was superb, I have to say , although some disease and weeds on 4 or 5 of the greens let the course down a little. A few comments were passed by some of the players, so a little note for Cabopino Golf and Aymerich Golf Management.....get those greens sorted out and you will have a superb course on your hands.
The golf was good and there were 3 pairings that were in with a serious chance of taking the spoils. However, when our winners did eventually get back to the clubhouse there was to be an unprecidented act of generosity never before seen at our competitions. Graham 'Noonie' Noon and Stuart 'Big Stu' Cannon have both won at previous events and were kind enough to let me pass their prizes on to another pairing. Then the problems started for me. I soon realised that the second, and third placed teams, also had one previous winner apiece. Now I could feel a serious headache coming on!! I then decided to take matters into my own hands and give one prize to each of the players that hadn't won before from the second an third placed teams. So, somewhat by default, but never-the-less joining the ranks for Valderrama are.... in second place, Cliff Brand (partnered by David Sharpe) and in third place Richie 'it aint my club' Bell (partnered by Wayne 'Weeps' Balfour). Having said that, I do have to give credit where credit is due and cut handicaps where they need to be cut, hehe!! So Big Stu and Noonie, congratulations, thankyou both very much and rest assured you will be cut the next outing!!
Congratulations also go out to Richie and Cliff, but don't forget guys you definately owe Noonie and Big Stu a pint or two when you see them.....i think it's the least they deserve, don't you? Oh, I almost forgot, I think you need to get Mr Sharpe and Mr Balfour a drink aswell.
I would also like to take this opportunity to bid a fond farewell to a couple of the lads that are leaving us for somewhat drearier climes. Darryll 'Deidre' Gibson is relocating to the UK as he is in the forces and I don't think there a choice involved. Also heading back to the UK is Danny 'Suggs' Craib. I think Danny has had to think long and hard about this one (must have hurt his head!!), but the decision has finally been made to head home. Best wishes to you both guys, enjoy the weather and if you are ever in Spain at the same time as one of our competitions please come along..... there will always be a warm welcome for you both!!! Well, more of a luke warm welcome I suppose!! Hehe!! Take care guys and it has been a pleasure to have you at the competitions.

'JUST BECAUSE IT'S FUNNY' PRIZE WINNER
Steve Brown - Apparently, Steve asked where to aim on the 9th tee and was reliably informed he should aim for the yellow post on the edge of the fairway. ie. The 150m marker. Steve then took to the tee, hit a drive that never made it more than 10ft off the ground and actually hit the said yellow post. This didn't really help as his ball the travelled 20-30m back in the direction it had come from! hehe!! Steve clearly has direction off the tee and we gave him a clubbgolf.com cap for his efforts. I bet you couldn't do it again though Steve!!
SINNERS AND SAINTS
Apparently ,you all behaved impeccably at this competition. But, I think that has more to do with the fact that I was playing and not on the course in my buggy to keep an eye on you. Watch out though, cause you never know will be watching at the next competition!!!
