.........or did we tell you we had a treat this month?
February's competition at Marbella Golf & Country Club.

I'm sure you will all agree, the course was in beautiful condition even if the early morning weather left me sweating for a while!!

After the early showers had passed, the clouds burnt away and in true Costa style out came the sun for what proved to be a lovely day.  The scoring wasn't great and a lot of the field struggled to come to terms with the course.  The average score for the day being in the low 20's, left the field wide open for our highest score and our eventual winning score.  Confused?

Joe 'Not so Great' Greatbatch, as his local society have named him, led the field with a huge 37pts from a handicap of 14.  Well played Joe!  Unfortunately for Joe, this was only his third competition with us and nobody is eligible for first prize until their fourth.  Our condolences go out to Joe, although his claims for a 14 handicap have gone completely out the window on the basis of his score.  A holed second shot at the first for five points, and three 'blobs' on his card, will ensure at least a couple of strokes are falling off the next time he joins us!!

The only other score over 30pts was our eventual winner.  There was a little inside knowledge in operation here as he was seen chatting cosily with the course professional before teeing off.  Clearly the information gathered was both good and put to use.  Graham 'Noonie' Noon (imaginative nickname guys!) led the field with 31pts to steal first prize.  I can only think the wind must have been blowing against his slice all the way round!!  hehe!!  I have to admit that it coudn't have gone to a nicer bloke but, I have found an R & A rule relating to 'Insider knowledge & Professional Tips at Amateur Competitions', so............... ................only  joking!!  Well done 'Noonie', and I look forward to seeing you at Valderamma.  Another new blazer being purchased this week I believe.

A very big thankyou to Marbella Golf & Country Club, who not only sponsored for this competition, but have given us enough for sponsorship at the next couple aswell.
