The latest competition seen us arriving at La Duquesa for....... .....well, new shoes mostly!!

(And a little golf of course!!)

Well, I truly am lost for words after the latest event seen more new shoes on the course than well played rounds of golf!

Yes, I'm afraid new shoes were the order of the day for at least half a dozen golfers.  And I think those with new shoes spent more time wiping them clean than thinking about the next shot into the green.

We also found a couple of suspects for the missing markers from previous competitions!!  No, of course I'm not going to blame them for all the missing markers.  But the fact that one at this competition was found in their buggy is going to cost them a couple of shots each next time out.  Both??..I hear you cry!  Well, in true schoolboy style they blamed each other, and they're never going to get out that way... are they?  Hehe. 
The culprits???......Dave 'Disco' Cuthbertson and Barry 'It weren't me!' Griffiths.   

After a ridiculously early tee-off of 8:14am, and a short journey in the wrong direction for some, play got underway.  I think from looking at the cards most players fell into La Duquesa's main trap, wide open fairways on the back nine, and as usual began to swing like loonies!!  There were plenty of good 9's to be seen, on the majority of cards, but only one player managed to negotiate the full 18 and post a complete round of scoring golf.  He has threatened to post a winning score for a while now..... believe it or not!  But, in now notorious style, previous rounds have often seen him flag down the last four or five holes.  Maybe one too many 'light refresments' at the hut on the 10th tee?  Anyway, this time he kept it together and took the spoils with a well shot 34pts, at least 2pts clear of his nearest rival.  So, this month our winner was............ ........Wayne 'Weeps' Balfour.
So huge, if still surprised, congratulations to you Wayne and we'll see you at Valderrama aswell.  And you can wave goodbye to a couple of shots next time out aswell.  Hehe, I love it!!
